How to Find the right singing voice!

Lyric Tenor, born in Curitiba – Brazil in 1968, is an Italo-brazilian citizen. Started his activities in 1988 as a popular singer, switching to the erudite singing in 1990. Gerson was Ivo Lessa’s apprentice.

Gerson works as a singing teacher in Curitiba since 2000. He is a production director since 2005 and a businessman on the events and graphic design business.

History

In 1994 joined the Guaíra Theater Choir, participating of the Mass in C Minor, KV 427 (Mozart), and also of the La Bohème opera from Puccini.

In 1995, participated of the Symphony No. 9 Opus 125 (Beethoven), conducted by Alceo Bocchino.

In 1997 and 1998, performed at the Guaíra Theather during the ‘Ethnicity Folklore Festival’, to an Italian and Spanish group, singing zarzuelas, Italian songs and Neapolitan songs.

In 1999, was invited to act and sing in the ORIUNDI movie, with Anthony Quinn.

At the same year, performed in a radio station and also in a recital with nationwide broadcast.

Participated in 2000 of the 18th Curitiba Music Workshop, at the Voice Techniques Course – Opera.

On June 2001, inaugurated the Chloris Casagande Justen Theater, at the Paranaense Women’s Center of Culture, with the concert ’All Women’, sharing the stage with his professor Ivo Lessa.

On August 2001 performed at the TV show Zaccaro Italianíssino, at the Brazilian TV channel CNT.

Performed, in 2002, a recital at the HSBC Theater - Curitiba - Brazil. In the repertoire: Bellini, Mozart, Waldemar Henrique, Schubert, Tchaikovsky, Donizetti, Verdi and Puccini.

At the year of 2003, Gerson had a serious health problem, including an allergic reaction to the treatment, which almost took away his ability to sing. With lots of difficulties, and great insistence (even though his voice would never be the same since then), at the year of 2005 he was able to resume singing.

Gerson kept singing as much as possible, and when his voice was beginning to stabilize, he had problems during a live concert. After investigation, in May 2005 was diagnosed with thyroid cancer. The following period was really difficult, and singing was unimaginable. The following was a surgery to a complete thyroid removal, and radioactive treatment. There wasn’t any possibility of singing by then. During this period, Gerson was only able to keep thinking about the singing techniques and also in never giving up. Even though his speaking was strained, when the minimal condition showed up, focused all of his attention in giving singing classes. The physical difficulties obligated him to always try finding ways to make it, always with the minimum strain, trying to capture the technique nuances. With the singing teacher profession, the voice timidly started to return, with several limitations, but it was still possible to sing.

In 2010 was a soloist performer at the Serata Giuliana - Giuliani nel Mondo della Lirica, at the Garibaldi Palace – Curitiba – PR – Brazil.

Still in 2010, was the responsible for the Artistic Direction and also the graphic project at the Ars Prima in Joinville – SC – Brazil.

In 2011, gave the “Power of the Voice” lecture at CEPDAP – Design, Arts and Profession Center of Education – Curitiba – PR – Brazil

Still in 2011, was responsible for the Artistic Direction,Vocal Preparation and Graphic Project at the Thein Project – Lyric Cultural Society´s Piano Remodeling, approve by the SIMDEC in Joinville – SC – Brazil

In 2012, performed a Workshop about vocal techniques in Joinville – SC – Brazil.
